Where is Magnetic Island?
Magnetic Island is situated in Australia’s renowned Great Barrier Reef region of North Queensland only 8km off the major centre of Townsville.
Townsville is located approximately 350km south of Cairns and 300km north of the Whitsundays, whilst the major eastern cities of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne are around 1300km, 2100km and 3000km respectively south of Townsville

The distance from West Point to Horseshoe Bay - the two extremities of the island is just 17km.
Getting around the island is easy, with the regular local bus service.
Alternatively if you are driving, do not expect to find traffic lights or congestion on the road- remember this is a tropical island in paradise.
